"Triples makes it safe. Triples is best."

Over the past 30 years, Adam has demonstrated a rare and specific kind of commitment. Not to a job, not to a plan — to the bit. He will see a bit through to its logical conclusion even when everyone else has clearly stopped. Especially then. He will keep going. He has always kept going.
He knows that some shirts cost more because the pattern is so wild. He knows that bones equal dollars. He knows that if you see a chunky little fella doing a chunky little dunk, you stop and you watch it, and you don't say anything while you're watching it, and then you think about it for the rest of the day. These are not opinions. These are facts about how the world works, and Adam has understood this for a long time.
He respects Dan Flashes. He has never walked past a wild pattern without acknowledging it internally. He respects the calico cut. He respects the focus group process — because if you don't, that mean you yourself admit it yourself that you suck. He believes in the hot dog car as a concept. Not as a joke. As a concept.
He respects the characters — because nobody leaves a room until they are pointed at. He has never once ordered a normal amount of meatballs when a large amount was available. He does not think that's embarrassing. He is right to not think that. There is nothing embarrassing about it.
He is thirty years old now. A fully formed adult person who is doing great and handling everything very normally. He has been a great friend. He has committed to the bit every single time, even when the bit was unclear, even when no one else knew there was a bit happening. That is the highest compliment available.
Happy birthday, Adam. We did way too much. That's okay. Triples makes it safe.
